On October 4 to 6, 2016, a training course for agricultural remote sensing was held in Pretoria, South Africa. The training course was funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with the South African National Space Agency (SANSA). RESTEC dispatched three experts upon the request of JICA. It was the 5th time for RESTEC to dispatch lecturers for South Africa following the 4th training course in May 2016.
20 trainees from ministries, agencies, and companies in South Africa participated in and completed the 3 day training.
The training focused on usage of SAR data and satellite derived agro-meteorological information for agricultural purpose. Some trainees expect to use these techniques which can capture ground surface even in the rainy season.
